Saskatoon 2012 Woodturning Symposium

The Hub City Turners are presenting a turning symposium on July 27 – 29, 2012 in Saskatoon, Saskatchewan.  They have an exciting group of demonstrators arranged for this 3 day event which will be held at the Kelsey Campus of SIAST. This event is all inclusive as two lunches and one dinner are included in the $295.00 price.

They are thrilled to present the following demonstrators:

Jimmy Clewes will demonstrate the square winged box, embellished rimmed platter, ebony and silver inlay box and wet wood end grain vase.

Clay Foster’s demonstrations include low cost, low tech surface decoration; multiple axis vessel; and a two piece hollow form.

Andrew Glazebrook will show texturing with vice grips and spring steel, use of simple kitchen tools and projects for youth as well as how to understand the tools we use.

Lyonel Grant will demonstrate the application of surface techniques to form 3D objects.

Michael Hosaluk will demonstrate bending and turning techniques.

Beth Ireland plans to demonstrate Barley Twist, turning outside the box and turning with your mind.

Deb Mcleod will demonstrate surface texturing and surface design.

Mark Sfirri will demonstrate multi-axis candle sticks, multi-axis baseball bats and basic spindle turning.

Trent Watts will demonstrate general bowl turning as well as ways to adapt turning for after lathe carving. Being a veternarian, he will demonstrate making a “cow bowl “.
