7:00 Annual General Meeting: Welcoming members, meeting news, and announcements

1. Presentations of Awards:

  • John Beese Award for Master Craftsman and long standing member,
  • Henry Goosen Award for Guild Contribution and
  • President’s Challenge Award

2. Election of Executive for new year. Please consider stepping forward and volunteering on the executive.

7:20 Feature Demo: Eric Lofstrom – Triple-Axis Turning: Sculptures on the Lathe – multi-axis spindle turning, using the rouging gouge, skew, detail gouge, and dye techniques to create a multi-faceted sculptural piece. You will be inspired to explore sculptural turning and add color to your art!

There is nothing more powerful than being inspired by an idea and having the confidence to create that one-of-a-kind piece on the lathe…this is what woodturning is all about! – E. Lofstrom

While he is here, Eric will hold a full day training class on Friday May 11th – Triple Axis and Translucent Bowls – Hands-On, and a full day Demo on Saturday May 12th – Endgrain Bowls & Boxes, and Square Winged Bowls.

8:50 Coffee, Tea and Snacks at the break. And buy wood raffle tickets. Goodies supplied this month by Colin Delory, Dewey Devries, Linda deSilva, Eldy Gandy, George Geurts, Michael Hamilton – Clark. Don may have some Magazines and VHS tapes for sale from the club Library.

And the “Problem Corner” Advice from the veterans. Bring something you are working on or something that you want comment on form & design. Bring in problem pieces, unknown species, wood pieces that you don’t know what to do with.

9:00 Presidents Challenge is Turned Jewelery.

9:15 Members Gallery: Commentary. Bring completed work you want to show, tell how, take questions, and discuss.

9:30 Wood or Tool Raffle donations: Bring wood blanks or a roughed out bowl blanks. Bring something you would use yourself. This month Ed Pretty, Mark Revell, Lance Rossington, Bob Scarrow and Guthrie Schweers will each be bringing something good!
