FVWG Open Shops Day: Ed and Beverley

FVWG Open Shops! (A note from Gloria)

The first of our “open shops” will be held on Saturday, March 7 with a visit to Beverley’s new workshop followed by a visit to Ed’s lovely workshop!

For those who can’t attend on a Saturday, don’t panic … I will be arranging some future open shops for weekdays too. Hopefully this will be the first of many open shops so please provide feedback so we can continuously improve.

I will be coordinating this event so please email me at geherberts@gmail.com to RSVP and if you have any questions about the open house. (Gloria will be sending out co-ordinates, maps and phone numbers to those who register.

Saturday, March 7

Open Shop#1 – Beverley Pears.    Time: 11:00-1:00

Beverley will be opening her newly completed workshop that her husband John has built. I’m sure there will be some very interesting and clever design elements!
Beverley will be demo’ing jigs on the bandsaw: ripping, cross cut, circle cutting & the John Beaver jigs. Also, the threading on the Jet, and the sphere jig on the Nova. The home-built cyclone system is up and running and will be explained; the home built vacuum system will not be running but is there to see and will be explained

Beverley will have cookies, cake and coffee. You may want to bring a sandwich to munch on your way to Ed’s shop, which is less than 10 minutes from Beverley’s.

Open Shop#2 – Ed Pretty.    Time: 1:00 – 3:00

Lots of folks were interested in Ed’s dust collection system last time – he will provide valid technical info during your visit. He also has two wood dryers – one is an ordinary fridge. He has a home-built vacuum chucking system. And of course Ed will be able to answer most questions.
