Annually, the AAW holds a contest for the “Best Chapter Newsletter” and the “Best Chapter Website.” Winners are announced mid-May and are recognized at the annual symposium in June, this year in San Jose, California.
This year has great news, the FVWG.ca website has won 3rd place for Best Chapter Website.
In first place is the South Puget Sound Woodturners, and in second place is the Great Plains Woodturners of Lincoln Nebraska.
Websites are judged on:
- Layout/Graphic Design: visually appealing, easy to access
- Ease of Navigation: easy to traverse pages, intuitive menu, links work
- Use of Technology: appropriate use of scripting, styles, databases and search engines
- Up to Date/Current Content: new info up front, archive material available
- Website Content: contains useful woodturning technical and news-related information
- Uniqueness/Personality: good blend of design with appropriate appeal to woodturning audience
- and other criteria.

First place: Finger Lakes Woodturners followed by the San Diego Woodturners, and the newsletter for the Woodturners Guild of Ontario
