GVWG Presents: Betty Scarpino
October 24th, 2015 – 9:00-16:00 All Day Demonstration at Sapperton Hall, New West.
October 25th, 2015 – 9:00-16:00 Hands-On Class at KMS, Coquitlam.
Betty Scarpino was born in Wenatchee, Washington, USA and earned degree in industrial arts from the University of Missouri where she also studied wood sculpture. In her early years she produced purely functional pieces and that helped her master the techniques that she now uses to create her sculptural and non-functional pieces. She is now a full time sculptor, writer, teacher, and printmaker and has been doing her artistic work for over well a decade. Her work is featured in museums and private collections in the US and abroad.
Betty was one of the headliners in West Coast Round-up in 2004 where she endeared herself to us all with her friendly style, her creativity, and her willingness to share.
It is wonderful to have her back for a day-long demo (Oct 24th) and a full day hands-on class (Oct 25th).
I highly recommend that you take the time to attend Betty’s demonstration.
Even if you believe that you will never do work like she does or if you feel you are “not advanced enough”, you will gain far more value than the price of admission. You will also get the chance to socialize and talk with Betty and other Guild members during the breaks and at lunch.
So mark your calendar for Saturday, October 24th. See you there. For more information about Betty and her work visit her website at www.bettyscarpino.com
