Featured Turner of the Month
FROM TREE TO TREEN: Beverley Pears
Life took on a whole new meaning in 2010 when Beverley discovered woodturning. She enjoys the transformation of tree to treen, and enhancing with colors, pyrography, and piercing. She is constantly looking into new ways to distinguish her pieces.
Woodturning began on a mini Jet lathe, and after 2 years’ research, decided the Nova DVR 3000 was to be her end-all lathe. Prior to woodturning, Beverley worked with computers, in an office environment, and in real estate. Most of the woods used are from trees fallen through rough weather, from homeowners re-landscaping, and from within Bristish Columbia, CA. During this period she has attended numerous workshops and seminars and takes her inspiration and education from these talented woodturning artists.
She is a member of the Fraser Valley Woodturners Guild, the Greater Vancouver Woodturners Guild, and the American Association of Woodworkers. In 2014 she moved into her new studio in Langley, British Columbia where she continues this fascinating hobby. Her pieces are exhibited through galleries, boutiques, craft shows, and websites.
Beverley welcomes your comments and camaraderie, and can be reached at mail@bpears.com
