A Message from Al Timms
“Hi FVWG members:
I now have some details of the above proposed event which give our Guild excellent exposure. It will consist of two components:
1) A display of turned items by Guild members in a public judged competition throughout the month with the three winners receiving Lee Valley Gift certificates. Items to be displayed will be received during the first week of January with the display being put up on Sunday, January 6/19. Results will be tallied at the end of January.
2) Woodturning demonstrations by certified Guild members supported by a “speaker” during each of the weekends in January. It is proposed that there will be two woodturners supported by at least one speaker (you do not have to be certified to be a speaker and it is very rewarding to work with the turners and the interested public).
Demonstration times have been proposed as follows for each of the four weekends (Jan 4-6. Jan 11-13, Jan. 18-20, and Jan. 25-27) as follows:
– Friday – 6:00 PM – 8:00 PM
– Saturday – 10:00 AM – 12:00 PM and 1:00 PM – 3:00 PM
– Sunday – 11:00 AM – 2:00 PM
I would like to get an early indication of interest from members who would like to participate as demonstrators or speakers. Please advise the dates and times you would prefer as I feel that it will give us an opportunity to establish our involvement.
I am also looking for someone from our Guild to coordinate the event but in the meantime will accept all input. Please respond as soon as possible.”
