Upcoming Meetings & Demonstrations

When: November 12, 2026
Where: Robert Bateman Secondary School and on Zoom

Allan will be showing his method of making a tulip flower.

He has researched many videos and articles on the American Association of Woodturners website and on YouTube to get information on making flowers. Most of the information he got was on making tulips. So, he compiled all the best ideas and developed his own version of how to turn a Tantalizing Tulip. He also wrote an article for Canadian Woodworking & Home Improvement magazine, “Turning a Tulip” that was published in their Dec/Jan 2023 issue.

He developed a “Petal Layout Cone” jig for marking the locations of the petals on the flower cone. He will discuss this how to make and use this jig during the demonstration. After he wrote the magazine article, he figured out a way to install stamens around the pistil inside the flower.

Allan has some ideas on adding leaves, but he hasn’t perfected that yet.

Making these flowers is a great way to give that special someone in your life a bouquet of flowers that won’t wilt after a few days
