June 6th Guild Meeting at Robert Bateman Secondary

– unusually on the first Thursday of the month, this month only –

7:00 Meeting News, announcements, welcoming new and returning members.

Note: Last year we had members donate some wood turned items and our guild gave them to the school board, school principle, vice principals, custodians and shop teacher, etc  as a token of our appreciation. Please donate one of your turnings so we once again can say thank you for their support. What the turning is does not matter as I kept a list of who got what and I will try not to duplicate. Please mark your name on the item or let Gary know when you hand it in. Thanks.

7:10 Feature:  Hands-on Night – 6 lathes and captains will lead how to do five different projects.

DO NOT FORGET TO BRING A LOT OF CASH. SILENT AUCTION for all the  donations to our guild. This will be going on in the back area by the food. All items start at 50% of retail value. Each bid in $1.00 or higher amounts only. No pennies, nickels dimes or quarters. All Bids end at 9 PM sharp. Get great buys on CHISELS, FACE PLATES, BOOKS, CHUCKS, JAWS, TOOL BAG,PEN KITS, SPUR CENTER, PEN DRILL VISE, DIGITAL AND REGULAR CALIPERS, ETC ETC ETC.

8:45 Juice, Tea and Snacks at the break. And buy wood raffle tickets. Goodies supplied this month by Brent Hansen, Murray Harris, Gloria Herberts, Lee Herberts, Neva Hilliard, Dale Holtz. Don will have some Magazines and DVD’s for rental from the club Library.

And the ”Problem Corner” Advice from the veterans. Bring something you are working on or something that you want comment on form & design. Bring in problem pieces, unknown species, wood pieces that you don’t know what to do with.

9:00 Presidents Challenge is a lazy susan.

9:15 Members Gallery: Commentary. Bring completed work you want to show, tell how, take questions, and discuss.

9:30 Wood or Tool Raffle donations: Bring wood blanks or a roughed out bowl blank. Bring something you would use yourself. This month Dale Seguin, Dianne Sjodin, Murray Sluys, Al Thorn and Chris Van Netten will each be bringing something good!
