Update: Ridge Meadows Home Show

Ridge Meadows Home Show
Report by Gary Burns,

Fraser Valley Woodturners Guilds involvement in the Ridge Meadows Home Show. Friday May 4th, Saturday May 5th, Sunday May 6th,

Haney Builders offered the FVWG a 20 ft X 20 ft tent to share with Haney Builders. to promote our guild, make spinning tops for the kids and to display and sell our products.
It was a major challenge, but it went extremely well. We had offered to make spinning tops for the kids, We were told the show has over 20,000 visitors last year and expected more this year. The weather was perfect. The kids and parents loved the idea and they lined up.

Lance suggested putting up a sign saying TOPS BY DONATION $2.00 All donations to go to the brown bag lunch program administered by the Salvation Army.
That was an amazing idea which a lot of the parents got behind. We collected $480.00.
That means we owe a great gratitude to all the members who dug deep and spun well over 250 tops over the three days. A special thanks to Keith Ruttan, Lance Rossington, Gerry Vickers, Murray Sluys, Greg Toll, George Guerts, John Spitters, Gary Burns, for turning, plus Victor Bias, Ron Kreba, Jean Ruttan, Brian Hicks, Derek Bird, for lining up the kids and promoting the guild by talking to the public and controlling the sales tables. Many other members were willing to help but the dates didnt work at this time.

We have a great guild, great members. These events can not happen without the support of our membership.
Thanks to everyone for getting this major event to such a great outcome.

Gary Burns.
