December 13th Guild Meeting at Robert Bateman Secondary – as usual on the second Thursday of the month.

6:30 Arrival, Setup, ”Chips Happen“ and Members Gallery viewing. And get advice in the “Problem Corner.”

7:00 Meeting News, announcements, welcoming new and returning members.

7:10 Hands-On: Turned Icicle Snowmen ornament lead by Lance Rossington and the lathe captains John Spitters, Dan Moleschi, Barry Wilkinson, Michael Hamilton-Clark.


 This YouTube video by Walter Wager is based on a Nick Cook article in the AAW book “Woodturning Holiday Ornaments”. The video is aimed at new turners.

John Gresham will have some DVD’s for rental from the club Library. 

And in the ”Problem Corner” get advice from the veterans. Bring something you are working on or something you want comment on form & design. Bring in problem pieces, unknown species, wood pieces that you don’t know what to do with.

9:10 Presidents Challenge is a Snowman.

“How I create a wooden, turned snowman” by Dick Rowe.
The snowman body starts out as a 6 1/2” (3” square) blank and the hat is about 3” tall (varies) and starts out about 2 3/4” square. 9:30 Wood or Tool Raffle donations: Bring wood blanks or a roughed out bowl blank. Bring something you would use yourself. This month Gerry Vickers, Albert Waardenburg Albert, John Webster, Bryan Whitta, Barry Wilkinson and Tom Wilson will each be bringing some good wood or other turning items (eg Sandpaper, Finish, Tools)!
